case #3: cashing out

ROB RUN selling loot: fences, cargo and sell points

Short answer: most loot goes to a fence in Looty Bay, and you have to be masked (a criminal) to sell. Contraband boxes and portable safes go to the smuggler. Cargo can be sold at the cargo trucks or opened at your base. District hubs on the global map pay more but are more dangerous. Sell in small batches: people camp the sell points.

Where do you sell loot in ROB RUN?

After selling, you still have to leave the city through an exit with the cash.

Should you sell cargo or open it?

Both work. Players sell cargo at the cargo trucks, or take it home and open it on a workbench at their plot (the workbench is bought in the store; extra items speed it up). One player says a green one usually pays around 150,000; another opened a purple (epic) safe worth about 300,000 in gold items. Kefir's 4 November changes made dismantling and selling shipments much more profitable, but they drop less often and take longer to dismantle. The Buletti can no longer carry shipments.

How do you sell without getting killed?

Seven forum threads in the first two days complain about players camping the fences and cargo trucks, waiting for you to start collecting cash. Criminals can kill criminals, so this is part of the game, not a bug. What experienced players do:

  1. Arrive as a civilian. Leave the city, re-enter unmasked, drive to the sell point closest to an exit, look around, then mask up, sell and leave. Two players independently describe this and say it avoids most deaths.
  2. Sell in small batches. A big sale drops a pile of cash on the table that takes about half a minute to pick up, 10,000 at a time. Sell three items, collect, repeat.
  3. Keep the car next to you. If you hear an engine or footsteps, get in and go. You keep what you already picked up.
  4. Circle first. One player does a lap around the point before every sale and has died there only two or three times in twelve hours.
  5. Store first, sell later. Take the loot home, then come back with friends as a group of three to sell it in one go.

Can cops sell what they confiscate?

Yes, but not as cops. After a shift you hand in your badge at the station and receive the contraband you seized; to sell it you have to become a criminal again and use a fence, or take it to a district hub for a better price. See how cops are paid.
